Currently Alonso lectures in Percussion at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he is responsible for 20th century music, the Percussion ensemble, and Latin music. He gives seminars to the composers class and has successfully coordinated concerts and master classes by international artists such as Brasilian percussionist Airto Moreira, American Vibraphonist David Friedman, leading to the creation of the Birmingham Percussion Day of which he is now the Chairman.


He has performed with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, including at the Proms at The Royal Albert Hall  and just recently with The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra premiering in the UK the opera “Ainadamar” by Osvaldo Golijov at Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Barbican in London.


In recent years as a composer he created the music for the opening of the

new BBC Radio Leicester and has written music for Theatre and Dance in

France and in the UK, his most recent Ballet Geisha was premiered at The

Pegasus theatre n Oxford by Gelede Dance  Company in Oxford and his

songs for TASTE  a production by The Theatre Chipping Norton is currently

on a UK tour.
